Coatings Application Technician (Day Shift)
We are helping one of our favorite clients with hiring a Coatings Application Technician. Our client is a leading company in the electro-mechanical repair industry, they offer a state-of-the-art facility in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area.
This company, known for its expertise in the repair, rebuilding, and re-engineering of rotating equipment, serves a wide range of industries across the U.S. and Canada, including power generation, ship repair, pulp/paper, and steel. Position Overview: The Coatings Application Technician will be responsible for surface preparation, coating application, and testing on a variety of industrial equipment. This role is ideal for individuals with at least 3 years of experience in applying coatings using cup-type air guns and pressure pot sprayers. Candidates must be able to pass a hands-on applicator test as part of the interview process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare parts for painting, blasting, and surface treatments.
- Apply coatings with precision to meet customer specifications, ensuring quality and proper film thickness.
- Perform wet film and dry film testing methods to ensure coating application meets required standards.
- Maintain an organized and safe work environment, including proper upkeep of tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in coating applications using cup-type air guns and pressure pot sprayers.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive applicator test involving the application of coatings in various layers and on different shapes.
- Knowledge of wet film and dry film testing methods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work overtime as needed.
